 Herbal Medicine: Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Once you have successfully treated the acute condition, you may want an herbal program to maintain your health and resistance. I find that alternating and rotating herbal medicines is an effective way to treat the system as well as the symptoms. The following is a sample herbal program for those with a history of chronic fatigue syndrome.

  • Week 1

    • Echinacea or Echinacea combined with Goldenseal
Dosage: One dose, 3 times daily
    • Astragalus or Astragalus combination
Dosage: One dose, 3 times daily

  • Week 2

    • Siberian Ginseng or American Ginseng
Dosage: One dose, 3 times daily
    • L-Lysine
Dosage: 500-100 mg, 2-3 times daily, between meals

  • Week 3

    • Echinacea or Echinacea combined with Goldenseal
Dosage: One dose, 3 times daily
    • Astragalus or Astragalus combination
Dosage: One dose, 3 times daily

  • Week 4

    • Siberian Ginseng or American Ginseng
Dosage: One dose, 3 times daily
    • L-Lysine
Dosage: 500-100 mg, 2-3 times daily, between meals

For the month: Maintain an alkaline diet

With some attention to this protocol, most chronic fatigue sufferers can find relief. But remember, natural medicine treats the individual and not the disease. So you may need some professional help in defining what your particular metabolic and physiological needs may be. This should speed up your recovery and help you maintain good health.
